Making Money With Google and Amazon
To anyone thinking about starting a blog, I found some encouraging words on Whitespace. (What a fantastic name for a blog.) Being relatively new to blogging, I have found myself wondering if it matters if anyone reads this blog. Why do I want to keep writing? After thinking it over, I decided that I write to hear myself think. More than anything, it is a great way to document my thoughts, clarify my ideas, and to let me vent. That is rational enough for me. If you are questioning whether or not it is worth contributing to the constanly ballooning blogosphere, you might be interested in the conversation found on Whitespace.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Adsense is Google’s affiliate program. They let you put their ads on your site, and if anyone clicks on the ad, you get paid. The cool part is that the google ads change depending on the content of the page it is viewed on. That means if I write a post about an online casino, theoretically, google would serve me an ad for online gambling. So far, I have seen an ad for buying artwork by Andy Warhol, and an ad for blogging. If you see an ad that is interesting or ironic, let me know. I think I can filter out ads I wouldn’t want, but I haven’t had a chance to check it out. On a similar topic, I also signed up with Amazon’s affiliate program. I am going to write some reviews of albums I am listening to and books I am reading. I can link to Amazon, and if someone buys the album from my link, I get a percentage of the sale. Now that I am up and running with Google and Amazon, I am curious to see if I can generate any revenue. Thanks for your support.
