Adrian, I appreciate your candid review of your experience at our shop. While the amount of time your repair took is disappointing to me, I am glad to see that overall you were satisfied with your experience with us. While our service queue does fluctuate and will get quite full from time to time, we strive and work many late hours to keep our customers happy, and our repair time to our typical 3 to 5 weekday turnaround. We are committed to fixing every unit right the first time, no matter how long it takes. While the first response makes a good point, you cannot purchase Apple Care for a unit after the initial warranty period has expired.

As far as the second response is concerned, Apple has many checks in place to make sure we repair units quickly and accurately, without using excess parts. Your statement is totally false. In fact we get penalized on a monthly basis if we don not meet strict service quality criteria, set forth by Apple. If we incur too many infractions on Apples repair policy, we will lose our authorization to do warranty repairs. We have been in business for over 10 years, and have been Apple authorized since 2006. We have maintained the highest level of quality, and have gotten recognition for being in the top 5% of all Apple service providers in the US.

ALL CAPS:

AVOID THE MAC SHACK AT ALL COSTS. THEY ABUSE THE APPLE CARE POLICY BY FALSIFYING PARTS THAT ARE NOT BROKEN TO BE BROKEN. APPLE HAS NO WAY TO DOUBLE CHECK WHAT THEY ARE DOING SO THEY CAN BASICALLY SAY/DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.

I REPEAT.

a couple of points that i couldn't let rest, there is no doubt that the mac shack mail-in service is a very good deal - but it is still more expensive than applecare. two points:

one - apple extends the standard one year warranty from one year to three years. had you purchased applecare, this would have been covered and you wouldn't have had so much hassle.

secondly - you can buy applecare cheaply on ebay for $160

that being said, extended warranties are for suckers - though they do pay off if something goes wrong...
